Disability assistance

DDA Blind

Metro Tasmania is committed to providing accessible bus services for all Tasmanians, including people with a disability.

Metro timetables feature a wheelchair icon to indicate wheelchair accessible services on each route.

If you require more information about wheelchair accessible buses or anything else relating to services for those with a disability, please refer to the information below:

7am – 7pm Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 2pm Saturdays (during daylight savings).

You can phone our Customer Service Hotline on 13 22 01 between the hours of 7am-7pm Monday to Friday. During daylight savings the hotline is also available 9.30am to 2pm on Saturdays.

If you are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment, contact us through the National Relay Service using one of the following options:

  • Phone 12 36 77 then ask for 13 22 01
  • Speak and Listen users phone 1300 555 727 then ask for 13 22 01
  • Internet relay users can connect to the National Relay Service by clicking here then asking for 13 22 01

All other times

If you require information outside of these hours, call Metro’s after-hours disability information line on 6233 4225.

Metro’s Operations Officers are required to staff this line after hours and on weekends and will be able to provide you with assistance. This line is specifically for disability information enquiries.

All unanswered calls to the disability after-hours number (6233 4225) will go to message bank which will generate an email to the Mail After-Hours Call Centre email list. If you leave a message and then choose option 6 before sending, it will be sent as an email message marked “High Importance”. Metro’s Operations Officers are required by our policy to respond to any email enquiries as soon as possible.

What happens if I call the Customer Service Hotline on 13 22 01 outside of operating hours?

Calls placed to our Customer Service Hotline outside the hours of operation are automatically forwarded to Metro Operations, which will respond by playing a pre-recorded message listing the options available. Callers can then choose to:

(1) leave a message on 6233 4230; or
(2) call Metro’s after-hours disability information line – 6233 4225; or
(3) hear the menu options again.
