Disability and Community Services is focused on the delivery of specialist disability services and family and community services throughout the State. Service provision in this area is mostly provided by the community sector. Disability and Community Services has responsibility for policy, planning, and reporting at both a state and national level. The Business Unit undertakes contract management for the range of outsourced services. The Business Unit consists of a range of work teams including the specialist disability assessment and advisory service; Tasmanian Autism Diagnostic Services; Intensive Support Service and the Individual Funding Unit. The Business Unit oversees the gambling support program, the Neighbourhood House program and the Gateway Services for Family Support and Disability Services. The Business Unit is also working on the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme as Tasmania is a trial site.
