Kingborough Interim Planning Scheme 2014

At its meeting on 24 February 2014, Council endorsed the final draft version of the Kingborough Interim Planning Scheme 2014 so that it may be submitted to the Minister for Planning for declaration in accordance with Sections 30D and 30F of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.

This draft interim scheme has been submitted in conjunction with all of the 12 southern Tasmanian Councils. During the last few years a coordinated regional project has ensured that the 12 new schemes have been prepared in a consistent and comprehensive manner.  The Tasmanian Planning Commission is reviewing all of these draft schemes prior to them being declared by the Minister.  Once the schemes have been declared they will each immediately come into force.  Any development application that had been previously lodged will be assessed under the Kingborough Planning Scheme 2000.  Subsequent development applications will be assessed against the newly declared Kingborough Interim Planning Scheme 2014.  As it is an 'interim' scheme, the subsequent process is that it will then be publicly advertised and comments sought on any suggested changes.  Council then forwards all of the submissions on to the Commission, public hearings are held and a final version of the planning scheme is recommended by the Commission to be declared by the Minister.

A copy of the draft Kingborough Interim Planning Scheme is provided here on Council's website for general information purposes only.  Changes may well be required as the Commission reviews all of the 12 southern schemes during 2014.  The following documents are made available for viewing:
