Concessions for the Aged and People with a Disability

Transport Access Scheme

The Transport Access Scheme provides assistance to people who have a permanent and severe disability. The Scheme incorporates the Australian Disability Parking Permit and the Taxi Subsidy Scheme.

Changes to the Transport Access Scheme

Transport Access Scheme Members eligible for taxi subsidies will now use Smartcards to receive their subsidised taxi travel.

The new system means Members will no longer be required to carry a voucher book, swipe card or permit card with them when they undertake taxi travel. Instead, a single Smartcard that fits conveniently into a purse or wallet will replace these items.

The Smartcards will be progressively issued to existing eligible Members over a two month period and when received, can start being used immediately.  New Members will receive a Smartcard when they are approved.

For more information see the Taxi Subsidies Information Brochure (PDF) (WORD) or contact the Transport Access Scheme on 1300 851 225.
