The Medical Panel
The Medical Panel is a panel of three experienced medical specialists appointed by the Commissioner. The Commissioner is responsible for keeping a list of medical practitioners to perform the duties of the Medical Panel.
The Medical Panel reviews information about your case to decide:
- whether you have an asbestos-related disease;
- what kind of asbestos-related disease;
- whether the disease is imminently or non-imminently fatal;
- the degree of impairment, in the case of non-imminently fatal asbestos-related diseases;
- whether exposure to asbestos in the workplace contributed to your disease; and
- the degree of incapacity in the case of non-imminently fatal asbestos-related diseases where the person is working or has recently worked.
