Gatherings are held every second year, so please spread the word and get ready for the 2014 20th Anniversary Gathering to be held in Smithton. Perhaps plan to ask a friend or new neighbour to join you sharing travel and accomodation, for what will be a very memorable weekend of networking, fun and learning.
The first Women on Farms Gathering was held in Scottsdale in 1994. They are organised by local committees and reflects the unique culture, industry, tourism and environment of the host community. Women’s Gatherings are for ALL rural women and aim to provide an opportunity for rural women to network, share experiences and support each other through good and tough times. They also provide opportunities for rural women to access information, resources and assistance, learn and listen and participate in workshops. Importantly it raises the profile of rural women and highlight issues important to them to the wider community.

The Gathering is set for the weekend of 23 – 25 May 2014 in Circular Head. It truly is a wonderful part of Tasmania and we can’t wait to welcome you and show you around! So please mark the date in your calendar now! It will be here before you know it
With a theme of “Making Connections’ the program will include guest speakers, tours of the Van Diemen’s Land properties at Woolnorth and Stanley as well as visits to other ‘home‐grown’ Circular Head businesses and landmarks.
You all know that the Gathering is a significant event in the Tasmanian Women in Agriculture calendar and 2014 represents 20 years since the first gathering of women in Scottsdale in 1994! The Gathering is an opportunity for us all to network and mix with each other, making new friends and renewing old acquaintances.
We know that many of our regional and rural women are the ‘glue’ which holds their families and communities together
in difficult times and the Gathering provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate their efforts in building their communities and regional economies – your efforts – our efforts!
So please mark out the weekend of 23rd to 25th May 2014 in your diaries, phones, ipads and the calendar
on the back of the toilet door! We look forward to welcoming you to Circular Head, spending time with you, introducing you to some fantastic Circular Head people and showcasing our wonderful part of Tasmania.
We guarantee there will be lots of laughs, great food, and fabulous company – the stuff great memories are made of!

Partners were welcome to attend the Dinner at an additional cost of $35 pp. Sunday rural women were invited to choose from a variety of workshops before returning home invigorated and recharged to face the challenges life throws our way.
Five scholarships were offered to rural women in a difficult financial position to attend the Gathering through the Rural Financial Counselling Service.
