Farm School Centre of Excellence to be based at Hagley
- 27 Feb, 2014
A majority Liberal government will establish a Farm School Centre of Excellence at Hagley.
The centre will provide primary industry educational resources for students at Hagley Farm School and the 4000 or more students that visit and stay at the school each year.
It will also provide primary industry educational resources to other schools including farm schools throughout Tasmania.
A senior officer specialising in primary industry education will be based at the school working with the existing team at the Hagley School Farm and Environment Centre.
A majority Liberal government will commit $100,000 to refurbish and upgrade the Environment Centre and provide appropriate primary industry educational resources for students, teachers and others.
The funding will also help support ICT and AV displays and mobile conferencing. The Centre will partner with other key stakeholders in primary industry.
Agriculture is one of Tasmania’s competitive strengths. The Liberals plan to establish a Centre of Excellence at the Hagley Farm School builds on this strength.
This commitment has the support of the Friends of the Hagley Farm School, the Hagley Farm School Association, and the Primary Industry Education Foundation.
Funding will come from the nearly $500 million in savings we have already identified.
