Jacquie Petrusma MP

Shadow Minister for Human Services, Shadow Minister for Children, Shadow Minister for the Cost of Living, Liberal Member for Franklin

Jacquie Petrusma was first elected to the Tasmanian Parliament in 2010. Jacquie was born in Launceston and attended Glen Dhu Primary, Kings Meadows High School, Launceston College and the University of Tasmania. Jacquie also trained at the Launceston General Hospital as a Registered Nurse.

Jacquie moved to Hobart in 1994 where she lives on Hobart’s Eastern Shore with her husband Tim, and their three children. They have three acres with two dogs, eight sheep and three chooks, and Jacquie and Tim are busy establishing an organic orchard and vegetable garden.

Due to her own experience of growing up in a single parent household, having previously been a single mum herself,  Jacquie is very interested in policies that will strengthen and support families, sole parents and the critically important area of education.

Jacquie has also worked in health related areas since 1984 and has extensive experience in Health, Ageing and Aged Care. She has completed a business degree, worked as a National Sales Manager in a global medical company, and has owned her own business.

Jacquie is and has been involved in many community organisations, including Business East, Kingborough Community Enterprise Centre, Tasmanian Deaf Society, Neighbourhood Houses, Prison Fellowship, School Councils and a Community Legal Centre.

Jacquie understands and is passionate about the issues that affect Tasmanian families and businesses, particularly in the areas of health and education, the rising cost of living and helping struggling Tasmanians to make ends meet. Other issues she feels strongly about include carers, aged care, caring for loved ones with disabilities and learning difficulties.
