The consultation phase into this reference is concluded and the Council are now in the process of writing the final advice to the Attorney-General. This process will involve consideration of the feedback and submissions and further research generated as a result.
The purpose of this Consultation Paper was to address the capacity of Tasmania's sentencing structure to deal with the sentencing of persons found guilty of assaults on emergency service workers in Tasmania. The Final Advice was provided to the Attorney-General on 19 March 2013.
The purpose of this Consultation Paper was to assist in the discussion about the legislative framework, sentencing options, intervention and community information programs available for adults and juveniles involved in fire setting in Tasmania. Final Advice was provided to the Attorney-General on 18 December 2012.
The Council is in the process of establishing a sentencing database. The database will improve the availability and usability of sentencing data. It will be used to support judicial decision making, research and policy making and it will be available to the general public.
