What does it cost to make a Will with the Public Trustee?

Every year, nearly 2,000 Tasmanians make their Will with the Public Trustee

When you appoint the Public Trustee to administer your estate, the cost of making a Will is:

  • $20.00 for a single person
  • $30.00 for a couple

The Public Trustee will prepare your Will free of charge if you are a beneficiary of an estate  administered by the Public Trustee.

Concessions also apply for those in receipt of Government benefits.

If you already have a Will with the Public Trustee and wish to revise your Will there is no charge for this service.  Just contact us to organise an appointment.

When the Public Trustee administers your estate, the principal charge is a fee which is set out by Government regulation based on the value of the assets and calculated on the estate assets that are NOT jointly owned.  For example, no fee is charged on a jointly owned home which passes automatically to the survivor.

Peace of mind is acheived knowing that the fee on asset value is a ‘once only’ charge, no matter what is involved in the administration of your estate.

If you know the value of your assets, our staff will be pleased to provide you with an estimate for the administration of your Estate.
