Forestry Tasmania is currently preparing a new Forest Management Plan to guide our future planning and operations and to reflect changes in our operating environment, our legislated forest management and resource supply responsibilities, community expectations, certification requirements and our approach to stakeholder engagement. This new Forest Management Plan will replace our existing Forest Management Plan – The Sustainability Charter – which was produced in 2008.
As an early stage in the development of this new Forest Management Plan, we are seeking stakeholder feedback on the draft Criteria and Objectives on which our operations are based and the Plan will be developed. The purpose of this initial consultation process is to help test and refine these Criteria and Objectives before we draft and seek input on the Consultation Draft of the full Forest Management Plan in late February/March.
Feedback on these draft Criteria and Objectives can be provided by 31 January 2014 to:

The first step has been to develop processes to make it easy for stakeholders and the community to let us know what they think of us, how we do business and how we might improve.
FT people are involved in stakeholder engagement on a daily basis – actively engaging with customers, other individuals and organisations as well as the wider community.
While in many cases it works well we know that overall there is room for improvement. We can do better at building relationships with people and organisations directly involved in, or with an interest in, our business. This has been identified by the Board as a priority.
If you or your organisation would like to contribute, you can do so by completing the online survey, click here to take survey (survey now closed), or register as a stakeholder. Please note that individual responses will be confidential unless you wish to identify yourself. We would appreciate responses by Friday, 15 November 2013.
