I have recently married. How do I update my property title?
An Application to Note Marriage is the appropriate form where a registered proprietor wishes to change their name on the Register following their marriage. This application is not required when the proprietor lodges a dealing disposing of the whole of their estate or interest.

Registration of an Application to Note Marriage is dependent on the following documentation being lodged with the Land Titles Office:
  • the original, completed Application to Note Marriage form, executed by the applicant/s
  • original or certified copy of marriage certificate
  • the original certificate of title
  • a completed Notice of Sale Form
  • a completed Lodgement Form

The form can be completed on-line and printed or printed in “paper” format.


I have reverted to my maiden name. What should I do to update my title?
An Application to Revert to Maiden Name is the appropriate form where a registered proprietor wishes to note on the Register that they have renounced and abandoned their former name and have reverted to their maiden name. This application is not required when the proprietor lodges a dealing disposing of the whole of their estate or interest.

Registration of an Application to Revert to Maiden Name is dependent on the following documentation being lodged with the Land Titles Office:
  • the original, completed Application to Revert to Maiden Name form, executed by the applicant/s
  • supporting declaration for proof of identity and sufficient evidence of use of that name
  • the original certificate of title
  • a completed Notice of Sale Form
  • a completed Lodgement Form

An owner has died. What should I do about the property title?
To change the names of the Registered Proprietors on a property title, where the property is registered as joint tenants, it is necessary to complete and lodge a correctly completed Registration of a Application to be Registered Proprietor by Survivorship.

The registration of this form is dependent on the following documentation being lodged with the Land Titles Office:
  • the completed original Application to be Registered Proprietor by Survivorship form (executed by the applicant/s)
  • the prescribed fee
  • the original certificate of title
  • a completed lodgement form
  • a completed Notice of Sale form
  • Evidence of death (Death Certificate – original or certified copy, Probate or Letters of Administration)

How do I obtain a copy of my certificate of title?
You can obtain a copy of a certificate of title by using the search facility on LIST (http://www.thelist.tas.gov.au/thelistprod/list_pages.credit_contents) or by visiting any Service Tasmania shop.


I have a query about forms and fees
The forms (including form guide) and associated fees payable to the Land Titles Office are available on line at the LIST:

I have paid out the mortgage on my property. How do I update my title?
Registration of a Discharge of Mortgage is dependent on the following documentation being lodged with the Land Titles Office:
  • the original, completed discharge of mortgage form, executed by the mortgagee
  • the original certificate of title
  • the original mortgage document being discharged
  • the prescribed fee
  • a completed lodgement form
The involvement of a financial institution may incur the payment of fees to that financial institution.
