Development Planning & Conservation Assessment Tools

The Department provides advice on development planning, tools for conservation assessment and the sustainable use of Tasmania’s natural values and resources.

These tools include the Natural Values Atlas, TasVeg mapping, the Tasmanian Reserve Estate Spatial Layer, and the Geoconservation Database. Other information products include strategies, policies and other publications. These support conservation and land use planning and assessment by landholders, land managers, regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisations, local and federal governments and business.

Development Planning and Conservation Assessment
Information on the requirements needed to allow assessment of the potential impacts of proposed activities on natural values.
Monitoring and Mapping Tasmania's Vegetation (TASVEG)
Specialist support and advice to Government through research, vegetation mapping, inventory, impact assessment and monitoring.
Natural Values Atlas
The Natural Values Atlas is Tasmania’s comprehensive database for flora and fauna information including threatened species.
Tasmanian Reserve Estate Spatial Layer
The Tasmanian Reserve Estate spatial layer has been created to provide the mapped extent of the reserve system in Tasmania.
Conservation Information System
The CIS is accessed through the Natural Values Atlas. It contains data that assists with conservation planning at the landscape scale.
