The main function of the Portfolio Services Unit is to make sure that the Premier's mail is dealt with efficiently and effectively. As part of this task the Unit regularly liaises with the Premier's Office to ensure that responses meet the standards required and represent the Government's position on the matters raised.
The Premier places considerable emphasis on the need for timely responses to her correspondence. The Unit monitors the timeframes to ensure that this is achieved. It also fosters a strong network of contacts with Ministerial offices, other agencies, and units within the Department of Premier and Cabinet to facilitate timely responses on behalf of the Premier.
The Unit provides a wide range of support and information services to staff within the Department, particularly in relation to parliamentary processes and procedures. The Unit also undertakes project, administrative management, analytical and research work and provides high level executive support to the Office of the Secretary.
