The Archives Search catalogue provides descriptions of State and local government and private records including files, letters, manuscripts, maps, plans, photographs films and more. It contains information about the creation of this material to help you evaluate what might be relevant to your research.


The catalogue is structured in a hierarchical manner, providing links between different levels of documentation.

  • Search by Function - a major area of responsibility assigned to or assumed by an agency; the reason for its formation.
  • Search by Agency - the creator of the records
  • Search by Series - a collective name for a group of records that have the same origin
  • Search by Item - single records such as files, volumes, photographs, plans etc.
