Residential Energy Concessions
A concession on electricity bills is available to Pensioner Concession Card holders and Health Care Card holders. A discount is available for people on life support machines. There is also a Heating Allowance available.
Pensioner and Health Care Card electricity concessions |
The pensioner concession is available to holders of a Pensioner Concession Card issued by DHS/Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA). The health care card concession is available to holders of a DHS/Centrelink Health Care Card.
These concessions are administered by Aurora Energy on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services (Tasmania). Either the pensioner, or the health care concession may be claimed, but they cannot both be claimed.
The pensioner and health care card electricity concessions are 123.50 cents per day.

Life Support Discount |
Aurora Energy provides a discount on electricity costs to customers who use an approved life support system, or live with someone who uses one.

Pensioner Heating Allowance |
The Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) offers an allowance of $56 per year to eligible holders of a Pensioner Concession Card issued by DHS/Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) to help with the cost of heating a home. The eligibility requirements include a maximum limit on cash assets of $1,750 for single pensioners and $2,750 for married/de facto pensioners.
