Road Safety

Tasmanian Road Safety Strategy 2007-2016

  • The Tasmanian Government and the Road Safety Advisory Council are committed to working towards the elimination of fatalities and serious injuries caused by road trauma in Tasmania. This vision for the future is long term, and is only achievable in incremental steps. It will not happen overnight, and it cannot happen without the commitment and support of all members of the Tasmanian community.

Safer Roads: Non-urban Road Network Strategy

  • The strategy has been developed to address a serious crash problem on 100km/h non-urban roads in Tasmania. The Strategy represents the Tasmanian Government's commitment to improving the inherent safety of these roads by adopting new safety standards for 100km/h roads, and by better aligning road design and layout with an appropriate speed limit.

Innovation - Making Our Roads Safer

  • Conditions on Tasmania's roads change frequently. There are a range of innovations either already in place or coming soon to alert drivers to possible hazards.
