Next step for Royal Redevelopment

Inpatient precinct Blocking and stacking diagram, Block K-1 and K-2.

The RHH Redevelopment is moving from planning to implementation with the announcement of Managing Contractor, John Holland Fairbrother Joint Venture.

John Holland Fairbrother Joint Venture has been engaged to deliver the first stage of phase 3 of the RHH Redevelopment.

The next step is to deliver a Guaranteed Construction Sum, detailed design work ready for construction, and have commenced preliminary construction work.

A Guaranteed Construction Sum is similar to getting a quote for building works. It provides certainty for taxpayers that construction costs will be contained within the funding available.

A great deal of work has gone into the design development including detailed consultation with clinicians. This means that the people who best understand Tasmania's health needs have been central to the new design.

John Holland Fairbrother will now develop this work in readiness for construction. This will produce very detailed plans, down to specifics such as the number of power points in each room.

Major construction works will commence after a Guaranteed Construction Sum is agreed. But some work will commence before then and more information will be available closer to the time.
