Bruny Island Cruises at the Blowhole

Robert Pennicott Floats Some Changes

From 1 September 2009, the Pennicott family's multi-award winning eco-cruises will begin the new season with a new name and a new look.

The previous business name, Adventure Bay Trading Company, will now change to Pennicott Wilderness Journeys. As part of the Pennicott Wilderness Journey's company Rob will run Bruny Island Cruises (previously Bruny Island Charters) from Adventure Bay; and Tasman Island Cruises, between Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck.

"Having an over-riding brand using our family name emphasises the fact that we are a hands-on, locallybased family business, employing local people and committed for the long term." Rob says. "It also ties our two current products together and gives us a stronger brand identity".

"Bruny Island Charters name change to Bruny Island Cruises was also essential as our core target market, the free independent traveler, is able to relate to us better as a cruise rather than a charter business."

Another important change is that both cruises will now operate every day of the year, except for Christmas Day. This change reflects the fact that year-round visitation to the state by free independent travelers, the core target market for Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, has shown growth in recent years.

"We extended our Bruny season this year until the end of June and we have identified continuing demand through the winter months, so from now on we'll cruise seven days a week, 12 months of the year in both locations," Rob says.

As an integral part of the re-branding exercise, new logos and a new suite of promotional brochures have been developed.

"The new collateral shares the same ‘look and feel', making it clear that Bruny Island Cruises and Tasman Island Cruises belong in the same product family," he says.
