Volunteers

Beyond our four career brigades, all fire brigades in Tasmania are made up of very skilled and dedicated volunteers drawn from the local community. As volunteers, brigade members primarily respond to emergencies, undertake hazard reduction and participate in community fire safety education.

Tasmania's fire brigades are made up of approximately 4,800 volunteers who operate from 236 stations in the suburban areas, larger towns and rural areas across the State.
