Plans underway for temporary Dunalley Primary School

The Minister for Education and Skills, Nick McKim, today announced that a temporary Dunalley Primary School would be set up on the school grounds for this year.

Mr McKim said the clean-up of the existing site had already begun.

"The clean-up of the site will be a big job and I am pleased to say it has already begun," he said.

"We have also already placed an order for demountable classrooms and facilities so the temporary school can be up and running as soon as possible.

"The facilities will be set up on the school's oval and will be able to utilised in conjunction with the gymnasium which was not damaged in the fire.

"I can also announce that a Working Group will be established to ensure the temporary school can be set up as soon as possible to meet the needs of children and local community.

"The group will include the school's Principal, Matthew Kenny, chair of the school association, Elizabeth Knox and the president of the Tasmanian Parents and Friends, Jenny Eddington.

"The Working Group will mean that the Government and key stakeholders in the local community can work together to deliver the temporary school.

"The loss of the school has been a massive blow to the Dunalley community and I want to ensure that we do all we can to help the school heal from this devastating fire."
