Arthur Highway Improvements Project
Background
The Tasmanian Government committed $18M to improve two sections of the Arthur Highway South of Dunalley as part of the Community Roads Program package of projects. Another project was identified after analysis of crash data and consultation with local Council. Three sections of road will now be upgraded to improve the overall safety of this popular tourism route.
These sections of road currently require vehicles to travel at low speeds in order to safely negotiate tight corners. Some of these corners have a poor crash record. These projects will remove tight curves where required and improve sight distance, providing an overall safer road environment.
