The Australian Government has committed resources to strengthen Australia’s disaster resilience. In line with national objectives, funding is available under the Natural Disaster Resilience Program – Tasmania (NDRP) and the Emergency Volunteer Fund (EVF).
The NDRP aims to identify and address disaster risk priorities throughout Tasmania by funding disaster mitigation works, measures and related activities that contribute to safer, sustainable communities better able to withstand the effects of disasters. The long-term goal of the program is to have Tasmanian communities which are resilient to natural disasters.
The Tasmanian Government in partnership with the Australian Government under the Natural Disaster Resilience Program has established the Emergency Volunteer Fund (EVF).
The EVF is a competitive volunteer support grants program and is aimed at providing volunteer organisations, at the frontline of emergency management in Tasmania, an opportunity to submit funding applications to support recruitment, retention, skills and training capabilities. Initiatives must demonstrate an ability to improve their local community's response to natural disasters.
Applications for funding under the Emergency Volunteer Fund are now being sought and the closing date for submissions is 20 October 2012. Further information about the program, including eligibility criteria and the application process, may be found by clicking on the link below.
