Realising Project Benefits ProjectSample Project Management DocumentationThis page presents a comprehensive set of project documentation from the Realising Project Benefits Project. The Project Business Plan (Version 1) was the initiation document. A Project Communication Strategy was developed for Stage 1 to clarify key messages to the various stakeholders and develop any promotional material required. A Risk Management Strategy is one of the key project documents. It provides a management framework to ensure that levels of risk and uncertainty are properly managed. Risk management is an ongoing process through a project. A review of the project was planned after Stage 1 (refer to the Stage 1 Project Evaluation and Review Report). This offered the opportunity to reflect on what had been achieved to that point and to what extent the project outcomes were being realised. The review resulted in a range of recommendations and the need for a revised Project Business Plan (Version 2.1) and the development of an Output Development Strategy for stage 2. The Project Manager reported regularly to the Inter Agency Steering Committee (IASC), comprising Agency Deputy Secretaries, and the Project Management Advisory Committee (PMAC), comprising representation by experienced Project Managers from each Agency. Example status reports are provided below. The project was formally closed and a Project Review and Closure Report prepared to ensure that lessons were learned and the project outputs would be maintained in operational mode. The level of project documentation required by a project varies according to its size. For further guidance see the Project Sizing Fact Sheet. Please note that this was a small to medium sized project. So that a full array of examples could be made available the Quality Management Plan, Records Process and Staff Management Plan were developed as examples only. A presentation about the project was delivered to the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) National Conference in September 2008. The conference paper and presentation provide an overview of the project and its achievements. Information and advice on project management is available by emailing egovernment@dpac.tas.gov.au.
