Solar Homes and Communities Plan

Are you connected to the mains grid and installing solar panels on your residential or community property?

If so, the Solar Homes and Communities Plan provides cash rebates.

The Solar Homes and Communities Plan is a Australian Government funded initiative providing rebates to homes and community-based buildings.

Please note that schools are no longer eligible for funding under this program. Schools can apply for grants under the National Solar Schools Program from July 2008 to June 2015.

Householders

Households with an annual taxable income of less than $100,000 are eligible for the rebate.

For new Photovoltaic systems rebates of $8.00 per rated watt of installed photovoltaic modules are available, up to a maximum of $8,000 for a 1kW system.

For additions to existing systems the rebate level is $5.00 per rated watt, up to a maximum of $5,000 for a 1kW system.

Community Buildings

Grants are available for community groups to apply for a grant of up to 50% of the cost of the photovoltaic system, with an upper limit of 2 kilowatts.

The grants are being offered on a competitive basis which means that applications will be assessed on value for money and on the educational and interpretive merits of the proposal.
