IPv6 Transition StrategyThe Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has designated Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) as the successor to version 4 for general use on the Internet. IPv6 has a much larger address space than IPv4, which provides greater flexibility in allocating addresses and routing traffic. Development of a strategy for Tasmanian Government transition to IPv6 is being coordinated by the Office of eGovernment, Department of Premier and Cabinet in consultation with Tasmanian Government agencies.
