International migration
The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts can nominate certain visa applications through a range of skilled and business visa programs for people who have a genuine and realistic desire to live, work and invest in Tasmania for the long term.
- If you are an overseas qualified skilled worker in areas such as medical and allied health, engineering or technical trades, you may consider applying for nomination under the Skilled Sponsored or Skilled Regional Sponsored visa programs.
- If you have already secured a skilled job offer from a Tasmanian employer, you may qualify for a visa under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme. The department acts as the facilitator of the Tasmanian Regional Certifying Body (RCB) for this visa program.
- If you have an overall successful business or investment history outside Australia, you may apply to be nominated for a visa under the Business Skills program, allowing you to reside, invest and conduct business in Tasmania.
All applicants must meet the relevant requirements for skilled or business migration set by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) prior to seeking state nomination.
If you meet DIAC requirements and would like to apply for Tasmanian state visa nomination, please then see the information on the department's migration website.
