Getting to Tasmania
By air
Five airlines, Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Regional Air Express, operate regular daily jet services between mainland Australia and Tasmania.
A range of promotional fares are offered by airlines throughout the year. Most airlines offer special discounts for large groups and we recommend that you contact the airlines directly to discuss these rates.
Internal flights within Tasmania are available between Burnie and Launceston airports from Air Tasmania, and depending on the number of visitors, a variety of aircraft, including helicopters, are available to charter between intrastate destinations.
By sea
Event participants may also enjoy the opportunity to travel here by sea.
Visitors can travel from Melbourne to Tasmania with their cars on the Spirit of Tasmania.
On board, a range of accommodation options and entertainment are available, including restaurants, bars, lounges, a children’s playroom and a visitor information office.
Event organisers may even like to begin their event on board!
To access information about the sailing schedule please view the Spirit of Tasmania timetable.
On the island
Transport around Tasmania is readily available. In the city centres, most event venues are in easy walking distance of accommodation, shops, restaurants and attractions.
Private transfers by chauffeured car, coach and limousine are reasonably priced and readily available, as is transport on the waterways.
Taxis and buses are reliable and of a high quality.
Rental cars provide you with an opportunity to transverse the state for pre or post event activities.
