Training and coaching
Events Tasmania organises an annual program of free master classes for Tasmanian event organisers, offers a scholarship to the Australian Centre for Event Management and can provide advice on tertiary and vocational training for event managers.
In the first half of 2012, Events Tasmania hosted master classes on leveraging the power of the web presented by Jason Bresnehan; a second set of our popular DIY marketing plan master classes presented by Kim Skildum-Reid; grant information sessions were held around the state; and Paul Gudgin provided a two-day Festival & Event Management workshop in early August.
There is one more opportunity for 2012:
- Drysdale Institute and Events Tasmania present the Events Exchange, a one day conference and networking opportunity for the event industry, on Tuesday, 28 August in Hobart.
Events Tasmania is a sponsor of the Australian Centre of Event Management (ACEM) at the University of Technology Sydney. This sponsorship has helped establish the online Event Management Library and assisted 12 Tasmanians to gain an Executive Certificate in Event Management since 2008. Andrea Marquardt, Community Precinct Development Officer, for the Glenorchy City Council and Kris Stewart, Festival Director for the Festival of Voices were the two recipients of the Events Tasmania Scholarship for 2011.
In 2012, up to three positions to attend the Executive Certificate in Event Management Course in Melbourne on Monday 12 November to Thursday 15 November will be offered. If you are a local council employee, an event employee, or a volunteer event manager, please apply by Friday, 28 September 2012.
