Role of the SESThe SES in Tasmania provides a response capability for emergency events through its volunteers. The responses may be 'stand alone' or in support of other agencies such as Tasmania Police or Tasmania Fire Service. In addition, the SES has a responsibility for facilitating emergency planning within the State working with State and Local Government. The SES occasionally works with industry on emergency planning. As part of this, the SES also facilitates the process of Emergency Risk Management within the community. Emergency management training is also a responsibility of the SES in Tasmania. The SES encourages agencies, Local Government, volunteer organisations and private enterprise to undertake projects which result in safer communities. These projects may be recognised through the Australian Safer Communities Awards which are conducted at both a national and State level. |
