Funding Programmes

The State Emergency Service, on behalf of the state of Tasmania, supports and administers a number of initiatives designed to improve Tasmanian communities’ capacity to prevent, prepare for, and respond to significant emergencies and disasters of all types.

The Australian Government has committed resources to strengthen Australia’s disaster resilience. In line with national objectives, funding is available under the  Natural Disaster Resilience Program – Tasmania (NDRP).

The NDRP aims to identify and address disaster risk priorities throughout Tasmania by funding disaster mitigation works, measures and related activities that contribute to safer, sustainable communities better able to withstand the effects of disasters. The long-term goal of the program is to have Tasmanian communities which are resilient to natural disasters.

THE NDRP replaces the Natural Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP), Tasmanian Risk Mitigation Program (NDMP), Bushfire Mitigation Program (BMP) and National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund (NEVSF).

Applications for funding under the NDRP are now being sought and the closing date for submissions is 30 March 2012. Further information about the program, including eligibility criteria and the application process, may be found by clicking on the program link below.
