Australia Day program
The Australia Day Program in Tasmania is delivered by the State Government. The Program sits in the Communications and Marketing Unit of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and is affiliated with the National Australia Day Council, who co-ordinate Australia Day programs at a national level. We liaise regularly with local government to promote Australia Day and expand Australia Day celebrations in Local Government Areas. Our vision Our mission
The Program comprises a range of activities aimed at engaging the community in Australia Day discussions and encouraging participation in Australia Day events. Outputs include marketing and promotional activities, programs and events. In 2011 the program included:
On Australia Day, over half of the nation’s population of 21 million attend either an organised community event, or get together with family and friends with the intention of celebrating our national day. On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.
